At Tempest Sailing & Restoration, we believe every boat deserves another chance to sail.
Too often, older sailboats are abandoned, neglected, or sent to landfills simply because their owners no longer know what to do with them. But a forgotten boat doesn’t have to be the end of its story. Through our donation program, we restore and repurpose sailboats whenever possible, giving them new life.
Many donated boats become part of our sailing education and community programs, where they help teach children, teens, and adults the fundamentals of sailing, seamanship, and water safety. Your donation can become someone’s very first experience at the helm — the beginning of a lifelong love of the water.
Donating a sailboat is also an environmentally responsible alternative to disposal. Restoring and reusing boats helps reduce unnecessary waste while preserving the craftsmanship, history, and spirit that make sailing so special. Whether your boat needs a little cosmetic work or a full restoration, we are passionate about keeping these vessels sailing for future generations.
David can help guide you through the donation process and determine whether your sailboat is a good fit for restoration, educational use, or community sailing opportunities. We accept a variety of sailboats and conditions throughout Northern Michigan and the Lake Michigan region.
